Stupid question, but damn frustrating nonetheless. I can't get this breather filter removed to top off the engine with some oil (in the link below). I loosened the clamp and tried twisting, pulling etc as hard as I can bug no budge. I am surprised it didn't break off while trying to twist it. Life just can't be that difficult. I may just need to cut it off and get another?

Jan, the link doesn't work for me (I don't have permission?), but I wouldn't cut it off in case some parts/cuttings end up in your engine. It may be a pain, but can't you just remove the valve cover (it should be the easy one) and push it out from the inside? If you didn't install it, this may be the safest way in case the previous owner did something dumb like attach a clamp on the inside.

Also, was I asleep, or do you now have THREE Panteras? That shiny new GT5S looks awful comfy in your garage... Big Grin
Yea Mark, up to three of the Pants now with the last one being the red GT5S with aluminum engine & such. I don't know what's up with my webshots webpage, some just can't seem to get into it although they are public folders. I will post a photo here of the filter. I have had it off in the past to add oil, but with older age, I completely forgot how I did it. Damn thing seems like it is glued on now, I just can't seem to break the seal. It's just a K&N, but just damn frustrating. I guess I just don't have patience crunched over in the engine bay twisting at it! Maybe there is no secret other than extra brute force or cutting it off with a razor.

Hi Jan,
I wouldn't cut it off yet. The rubber may rip if we try and use a channel lock on the bottom of the rubber where the hose clamp is now. I think that's where the rubber from the breather is sticking to the valve cover. What if you take that hose clamp off and wrapped some string around that area to protect the rubber from the jaws off the channel lock and then try to work it off with the channel locks? If you don't get to it, maybe I can come by and give it a try? I may not explain it so good but I have an idea in my mind! Randy
