And maybe not, read Daniel's last post in that thread a little more closely....Legendary Motors, Ontario, no wing???? Unless Scotti passed it on, but why remove the wing?

quote:
I was working on a car sale to Peter at legendary Motor cars, he wanted my Vintage race car. Simple, it's not for sale but I would consider trading for something like ....a GT5. He did not have or know of any. About a week later I was called by Nick (sale guy)they took one in on trade. I flew to ontario, inspected it, called Santiago Detomaso in Italy to confirm the Vin# 9191 was in fact a GT5. And yes, confirmed by Santiago it's a real GT5. Some one had removed the wing, stud wholes were poorly filled, I had the wing re installed.
Julian,

You might be right......I didn't read the fine print, since these don't sell that often, I just made the connection (the wrong one). Unless Legendary wanted his vintage car so bad, they searched out the GT5 from scotti...I think that's a stretch.

The more likely story is that two (very lucky) people recently became owners of GT5's.

good catch Julian.

Julian:

Perhaps Daniel will weigh in on whether the colour is original. I only know the car underwent a restoration eight years ago. I spoke with the salesman at Legenday Motorcar last June, and he gave me the following information:

• Legendary Motorcar had & sold the car 3 years ago
• He does not know the car’s history
• The car has been modified in only minor ways, to the previous owner’s personal preferences.
• 17” wheels
• It was thoroughly restored 8 years ago, driven perhaps 1,000 miles since.
• Flares were repainted without being removed from the car, so the seam is starting to crack on one flare
• Interior not showing significant wear.
• The odometer shows under 10,000 km, but he is not sure of the actual mileage
• They are asking $74,900 Can
• He does not know if engine was rebuilt, but it is mechanically sound.
• The car shows no rust whatsoever.

Okay guys.....
9191 is of no relation to any cars at John scotti, I have spent a year dealing Mr. John Scotti and his right hand salesman kelly. I am very well versed on there silver 82 and black 84 of which neither cars can be imported to USA any earlier than 08. #9191 was privately owned and traded in on a new viper at legendary.
Agian, pure chance of being there when it was traded in, it never went on the market for sale at Legendary.
legendary painted the car about 12-15 years ago, I have all the history on all three cars. The fourth for sale car is owned by,I think it's Matt, doesnt matter, however it is a red 83, his God father is....John Scotti, imagine that.,
Back to 9191. After I inspected the car it was clear it had previously had a wing. the previuose owner either did not like it, lost it , broke it, I do not know but I will call him and ask. So I had one re installed because it originally had one and I like them, I also had the detomaso stickers put back on, again because I like them and according to Santiago, they all came with them.
So.......I will post current photos shortly.

Peter,
I just read the rest of you other post, no entirely wrong or right.
Legendary told folks about 8 years but after many long conversatons with Peter it was 8-10, 12 or so maybe as long as 15, nobody new. i will call the previouse owner and get the scoop. however, yes fully restored, no rust, the interior is outstanding, the engine is original, but do not know what done except the obviuse carb and intake. Regarding there price they told you and interesting deal because it was never for sale to the open market. That said I paid I think a fair price, not a great price but fair at 56k.US
Daniel
Daniel, Congratulations! Of course, I would be happier to not lose any more Panteras to the US, but I think at $56K US for that car, you should be very pleased with the deal. Just get in and drive and have fun!

BTW, the red Ontario GT5 is owned by Jonathan, but yes, John Scotti IS his Godfather.
Mark,
Yes, that's it Johnathan, He is a very nice guy I spoke with him quite a few time's and completely blanked on his name. Great guy with a great car....I met him when I was looking to purchase a GT5 and of course could not import his it was to new. Thanks for the thumbs up on the purchase, its always good to hear I did not pay to much, that said I guess " to much" is all relevent to what I am comfortable with. I definetely feel good about it. I rec'd a call from the Reliable it will be here sunday AM.
Can't wait!
Daniel
Julian,
Here's a picture of 9191 after the wing and script are installed as well as all paint seams redone that needed to be. This work was all done by the restoration shop at Legendary.
I am trying to navigate this site and suck at it. Rookie. So please bare with me if this does not work.
