There is an article in the January 2010 Hot Rod Magazine which tests and compares the hot Chevy and Ford engines of the muscle car era. Amongst the tested was the 1971 Ford Boss 351 Cleveland vs the Chevy LT1. They built exact replicas of the engines and dyno'd them in a shoot out. The claimed factory rating for the Cleveland was 330hp@5400rpm and 370 ft-lb@4000rpm. The dyno of the test engine was 383hp@6100rpm and 391 ft-lb@4000.

The LT1 was factory rated at 330hp@5600rpm and 360 ft-lb@4000rpm. The dyno of the test engine was 359hp@6100rpm and 376 ft-lb@4100.

They also tested other engines such as the 289 and the 351 Cobra Jet. Link to the article:
