Hi.
I've just joined the forum! seems like a good place to try and find some spares for my 1982 Deaville. I am looking for headlamp surrounds and a front grille. Although i have seem a deauville for sale in Paris with these parts painted out in black and they looked OKish. I am after the original look. At a push I can fabricate a new grille but the headlamp surrounds are pressed so very difficult.

Hi Josh
Thanks for the contact, I had been in touch with Claudia at DeTomaso in Italy but they do not carry any spares at all. I am based in N.Wales in the UK, I used to collect various collectors cars and have kept the Deauville for 18 years. Had a new bonnet(hood) made as they tend to flex in the middle. There will be various other things I am trying to do so I will try Roland as you suggest.
Cheers Mike!
Hi Mike,
I saw your post and thought it might be a good idea to drop you a line as I’m probably about the only other bloke in the UK in the processes of restoring a Deauville.

If you are a DTDC member I put a little bit in the last club magazine about importing it from Australia.

In the next few weeks I am going to take her up to South Yorkshire to Roger Brotton’s garage to start getting a plan together to restore her to her former glory.

I thought there may be sense in a little pooling of resources and although with just a handful left in the UK if such a thing were possible the odd group buy, fabrication etc may be helpful?

Anyway it would interesting to hear about your own car

Many thanks

Hi Mike;

Interesting to see your post.

The best source in the UK for Deauville parts is Roger Brotton. He's in Barnsley and has 3 Deauvilles (2 of them used to be mine!) and has recently broken a fourth.

You can reach him on 01226 292601.

He's also the De Tomaso Drivers Club technical advisor and a mine of information on all things De Tomaso.

All the best

Derek
The Deauville starts its road back to loveliness when it heads up to South Yorkshire to the Brotton-meister’s premises on November 15th.

The brief is this, to have her good enough to show at next years Goodwood Festival of Speed as the unfortunately (and as I’m sure Derek read in the most recent DTDC magazine) Roger’s own car had some paint issues which ruled her out of this year. We need to maintain the presence!

At the moment I am not sure whether to retain her in the original Maserati red (I think that the official name for the colour) or to go for something darker, half of me wants to retain the full authenticity and the other half wants her dark navy or black? Answers please

I want to put something of a photo journal in the photo gallery on this board charting her progress from when she leaves until when she comes back and hopefully gets to take part in the odd beauty pageant next summer.

All in all she is not that bad anyway with the only known tin worm problems being in the bottoms of the two front doors, other than that she starts first time and runs ok but will of course take advice from those who know best.

Other known problems are all four door locking mechanisms are shot and the electric motors on the drivers seat are dead as well as the electric motor for the drivers side window.

PS Derek, the GTSE would already be mine but I need to know how much loot is going into the Deauville first. She is truly fantastic and although I wouldn’t want to waste anybody’s time I would love to see her. It’s a shame the club isn’t doing the classic car show this year, I was hoping to meet one or two of you being a new member
Hi Robert

I am still looking for various spares for the deuville.
There used to be another one locally! strange as there are so few around. I actually had borrowed parts of the other one to make patterns.
i have no headlamp surrounds, although i have made moulds off the ones I borrowed, the intention being to resin cast with aluminium.
I also had new grilles cast for the wiper surrounds, this has been done using dental casting techniques, the guy with the other deuville made these years ago for me.
I also have a new bonnett and wing, but I am going to use these.
I am based in North Wales near to Chester. let me know what your garage can fabricate.
Cheers Mike
Hi Mike,

Was really interested to read your post.

I also have a 1982 Deauville being restored here in Sydney, Australia.
I was thibking of having a new bonnet made. Could you tell me how much it cost you and whether they would be able to make another?

Also, did you speak with Roger? Does he have any spares available for the Deauville?

Look forward to hearing back from you.

Regards,

Jason

Hi all
Info regarding my Deuville:-
Chassis- 892/thdvte/02058
Registration Date 19th March 1980
Registration Number ODH21V
I bought the car 3rd January 1984.
It is in the original Colour Brown and Gold, with gold wheels!
As for the question about making the bonnet. I had a bonnet and wing made in 1987 in Italy. It doesn't seem much money now but I paid £1800 at the time.
I have been busy in work and have meant to join the UK club, this will be done over Christmas when I find my cheque book.
Cheers Mike
