DeTomaso engine pictures

Take many years ago.

A snowy West London. Cant remember where.

I was buying some Mustang parts from this guys garage.

He had so much, new and old, I then spotted this and had to take pictures.

He also had a 67 GT350 and I think a 69 GT500. Both immaculate and very low mileage.

What interested me was the Telcalamite mechanical fuel injection and slide throttle valves.

We carried this engine of his garage to take the pictures on a snowy day in the UK.

Try this, base for the Sport5000 and prototype for the Mangusta

This motor was claimed to be a Ford 289 upgraded with new light aluminium-alloy cylinder heads, pistons, crankshaft, connecting rods bringing the compression ratio up to 12.75:1.
Measured output was a claimed 475 hp @ 7300rpm.
