Look through the back issues of PI or Profiles, study the pages of the BVE registry, you'll find names of hundreds of owners who were active enthusiasts years ago, but not today. They're not here on the forums or on the mail list. Many of these people are still in possession of their cars.

5200 Panteras were imported to the US by Ford. Because there is a lot of cross-over in the membership of POCA and PI, I'm going to guess that our clubs together represent 1500 owners, or possibly 1500 cars "on the road". If you guesstimate that another 1500 have been destroyed in one way or another, that still leaves 2200 Panteras lying in garages collecting dust since the '80s or '90s. Many of these cars are in relatively stock condition, and low mileage. There are 2 yellow examples for sale on the PI club web site right now.

I'd have to agree with that. I've been watching PI, PIM, and Ebay for several months now and the cars that are selling are the "stock' examples (although not in every case). The modded cars tend to take a little longer. It seems to me that this would indicate that people are starting to look at them for investment potential.

A prime example of this is the White tribute car we all have talked and posted about. Most of use agree that at $35k it's a good buy however its been modified and therefore only appeals to a few, even among this forum. It's been for sale at PIM for a very long time and on Ebay twice.

I think this is why they are priced too low. More supply than there is demand. There are more Panteras than there are people who want to own them. This is a good thing for owners as we will always be able to find parts cars. Bad for our widows trying to sell our cars after we die though.
