I had the dash out while I was working on my heater a/c systemand when I put it back in I am having some strange electrical stuff happening. The courtesy lights and the backup lights are on all the time (backup lights when the key is in the on position) courtesy lights all of the time. I can understand that maybe somnething got knocked off the courtesy switch but I didn' go near the B/U lights at all (that I know of) Mine is a 74L Does any of this go through that emergency flasher switch on the dash? I will get my wiring diagram out Sunday and start lokking for it but I thought I might get some ideasnfrom people wher I might start looking.
The backup switch is new and was not doing this before I took out the dash.

Thanks

About all te lights in the car go through that emergency switch; it sure sounds like you switched a wire or two when re-hooking it up. You DO have the electrical schematic, don't you? Otherwise, messing with the wiring is like bomb-defusing by braile.... And some Panteras have different colored wires from what the schematics show. There are 4 different versions of the schematics. The only other universal problem area re wiring involves loose or corroded wires on the central grond post on the underside of the cowl, behind the tach. I take all the ground wires off, wire-brush them AND the post itself, then reassemble & tighten the nut "firmly" but not snapping off the stud, of course.
Thanks Jack, I do have the schematic and have actually fixed the B/U lights. The terminal was loose on the new switch and it contacted the other terminal. Just a coincidence in the timing. Time to check the "A" pillar trim screws to see if I nipped the wire when I put the trim back in.

When I had my dash out during the restoration I had a friend who does auto electric put in a quick connect on the E flasher switch so I can remove it just by doing a quick unplug. Unfortunately he just had back surgery and can't come over to play, so I am on my own for now.
