I have disconnected a wire that I cannot identify.

In the process of replacing the bulbs in the console...

All was well until it was time to do the speedo. The lamp came out OK, I had a real hard time getting it back in to the socket. Once it was seated again I had no lights in the dash, brake lights, turn indicators...I replaced teh fuse, no difference. I now see a red wire with a female spade connector on it. I placed a meter on the wire and it does show voltage when I rock the light switch to positions 2 or 3. I do not a have a wiring diagram on the car yet. It is a 1972 pre L (3988). I need to figure this out before my journey to laguna seca this weekend, otherwise I am going to have to scrap the trip.

I you have information or ideas. maybe a wiring diagram I can take a look at? Please call me 925 787 0023 . I am Martinez, CA.

Thank you all in advance!

Greg

There are four available circuit diagrams, and I have yet to find any Pantera that matches any of the four perfectly. Most of us have several different diagrams, and we annotate them as we find differences in our personal Panteras. OK; in one diagram marked "6/15/72", there is a red wire piggy-backed to an orange wire on one of the 'parking lights' in the tach. This appears to be the only red power wire on either instrument. DeTomaso likes to piggy-back wires... The absolute worst that will happen is, if its wrong, a fuse will blow, and they are readily available as "GBC'-type fuses at any Pep Boys or Kragens. Good luck at Laguna Seca.
