One of my fans quit working, so I suspected the relay right away. Swapped the wires one at a time to the other relay and found that all the wiring is OK...but one of the relays seems to be faulty.
Is this a common or a rare part? Any idea what part number it is...or if there is a common acceptable replacement?
Are there any user repairable parts inside? Should I open it up and file some points or something?
Any help will be appreciated!

check to see if the coil is "burned out" or shorted. checking with an ohm meter a) is there continutity in the coil, b) is there a short between the coil and the housing??

if the coil is defective, depending how ambitious you are you can either rewind the coil, (arg) or just replace the relay. hey new ones are probably better than the original stuff used. heck, i'd just replace it, sometimes new is better and easier than old.so what if it does not look the same.

You can still buy the original fan relay. I picked up a couple from Wilkinson.
