I was wondering before I throw my car together. What are the loose parts around the opening of the fire wall that lead into the cab? It looks like something is supposed to screw into it.
You are probably thinking about the loose square nuts that float in "holders". They are around the dog hatch access to the front of the engine. These are the nuts for bolts used to hold in place the dog hatch cover.
Hatch cover? You mean the metal bubble cover that covers the front engine comonents? Yes, you definately will need one of those or an elbow pad for your right arm when it goes into the fan belt assembly, earplugs and a way bigger A/C system. I gave one away a little while ago. I'll see if it's being used. Will
As Will says, you should have the "dog hatch" (metal bubble cover that covers the front engine components). The front of the engine can be covered by the interior trim bulkhead cover piece but ... You would have to get "earplugs and a way bigger A/C system."
If you cannot find a stock dog hatch ... you could look at KirK Evans bulkhead kit.

The one's I have are steel, covered with felt on the interior side of the car.
I have a spare I was going to cut up and make my own hump reduction. If you don't want the outlay for Kirk's kit I'll sell it for $125 + shipping. It weighs 7 lbs before packaging.
