I have decided, for a number of reasons (none of which include any unhappiness or lack of enthusiasm for the car), to put my Pantera up for sale. I am posting it here first, then on the PI bulletin board, but probably not in any print media or general "cars for sale" internet sites. I have it fairly and accurately priced at $45,000.

Listed below are most (although probably not all) of the pertinent features of this car. This is not a 100 point Pebble Beach trailer queen, but it IS an excellent example of the marque that has had a continuous history of conscientious and enthusiastic owners who have maintained and improved the car to a very high standard. The car comes with a complete ownership history from new and a 3 inch thick folder of paperwork documenting (with receipts) all the work done, or improvements made, to the car since June 6, 1987, when the mileage was 20,697, as well as a history of its' concours competition and copies of all the press/magazines that featured or mentioned the car. This car was NOT resurrected from a rusty hulk nor was it gussied up with a quick primping for resale purposes. The condition of the car that is evident in the photos is the condition in which the car has always been maintained. A California Pantera from new until my purchase in November, 1996. Mileage as of June
10, 2007 is just shy of 45,200.

ACCESSORIES

Car Cover
Complete bound set of POCA & Pantera manuals & technical information

In addition to the above, the car has just (6-9-07) received a new McLeod clutch (pressure plate and disc), bolts, throwout bearing, needle pilot bearing and ZF input seal, all from Dennis Quella at Pantera Performance Center in Castle Rock, CO. The old throwout bearing was audibly bad, but the old clutch was in fine shape. I only replaced it because getting the transaxle in and out is 90% of the hassle, so why not go with all new parts as long as you're in there?

This car is well know to the "old guard" in the PCNC chapter of POCA. Previous owners: Doug Morgan, Gary Berger, Eric & Diane Strom, Ray Miraglia, Jerry Hoover.

I've no financial interest to say this, but I must agree with Mark's post: this car is a very fairly priced, very nicely prepared car.

There's not a $35grand Pantera in the world you could make CLOSE to this nice for the difference - you'd be in well past $50k before you got there... with more gray hair and fewer brain cells as a result.

Car's too nice to sit for long...

Thanks for your thoughtful comments. It never hurts to remind prospective buyers (and those of us who are tempted from time to time to take on project cars) that with Panteras (as with most other collector cars - Hemi 'cudas excepted) rarely can you take a lesser car and transform it into a greater car for anywhere near the difference in price between the two!
