Good idea Larry had there. I took the liberty of setting up an updateable map and placed my marker. I just used my name and vin.

It might be fun to see just how many Panteras we can locate, might even find one nearby that we did not know about.

Just a thought, any who, here is the link.

Nothing ventured nothing gained.

This is a neat idea. If it is going to be populated and used, do we want to:

A. Add a link to it on the forum so it doesnt get burried?

B. Make it visible only to members?

For now I've featured this topic so it will remain at the top of the list of threads in the pub. If enough people show interest we'll do something to make it a permanent feature of the forum. Map Services dot Org provides the code to that will allow me to feature the map anyway we want.

That would be great, especially if we were able to update photos or add contact info. Too bad I am a computer clutz to figure out how to do that stuff.

Looks like more Panteras in the east so far, except lonely ole me in Florida....but it is still early...

Oh Wow...the modern equivalent of the "Gone in 60 Seconds" black light list except it's in full color with photo's for our overseas 'customers' Wink to pick from.

I see everbody's come clean with their real names and with a town marker so addresses shouldn't be hard to follow up on.....

Just place your pin on a nearby street or neighborhood. Life is too short to not try things out of fear or being too cynical.

Personally, I am quite surprised to see how many cats are not in sunny Ca.

IMHO, stealing 37+ yr old Panteras doesn't pay. The desirability of a stolen Pantera is overstated. First, besides the DMVs, the Clubs all keep international records of the serial numbers, so they're difficult to sell in one piece- at least in the civilized world, which limits their desirability to pro-thieves. Second, to strip one takes specialized knowlege, and even then, the parts are of limited value 'cause the bodies are welded assemblies and the next-most-valuable part- the transaxles- are also serialized in the Registrys. Finally, getting parts for a stolen one someone wanted to keep would be a problem 'cause the vendors also keep logs of who has what, its condition, etc. In 30 years, I can only remember two being stolen (both in So-Cal), and one was a joy-ride. That car was recovered the same day. They also don't tow or hide well. Might as well steal a Shelby Mustang- there's virtually no pro-car-thief market for them, for the same reasons. Amateurs tend to stick to what is rapidly saleable at flea markets etc. like Toyota radios and non-obsolete tires. I wouldn't worry except for your local neighborhood punks & dopers who likely already know what's in your secured garage...

Actually, I was thinking along the lines of adding email so if one wanted to have a get together of all the Pantera owners in Florida one could just email the Florida, or CA or N.C. owners. Just set up your own Pantera specific email address up for security. I know the board works for this...but when was the last get together in Florida?

Just a thought....... George?
