I initially bit and emailed the guy, but the text for this ad seemed familiar to me.

https://www.gt40s.com/threads/...25-2-for-sale.44429/

His email response was immediate, very eager to please, and started asking for my home address, and bank transfer options.

Mr. D.Postmus  appears to have purchased this gearbox which had been for sale elsewhere; and is now seeking to resell it (i.e. flip it).

It is a "rebuilt" ZF 5-DS-25/2 gearbox for sale for $7,000. It doesn't surprise me that he would advertise on our forums. Some members may find this of interest; I usually encourage "parts for sale" that may help a member; thus I see no reason why he shouldn't list it on our forums.

However, if I were considering a purchase, I would first seek clarification if this gearbox is ready to run in "Pantera configuration" or in "GT40 configuration". One configuration is 180 degrees opposite of the other configuration.

Please show Mr. Postmus the same respect you would expect if you were selling parts on our forums. However, as most of you know, I am not "all-knowing". So if there are other issues please contact me via private message.

If a person is doing business on eBay then they should accept payment via PayPal. Consumer protection is there to protect consumers. If a seller wants to avoid the consumer protection built into eBay we all must question why. As a person who buys and sells on eBay, my attitude is no Pay Pal, no sale. PERIOD!  And frankly, even if the item is being sold here via our classified section, payment via Pay Pal is still a good idea. Mr. Postmus is it true you won't accept payment via PayPal?

I have established that the good folks here have reason to suspect this listing. A picture of the gearbox with the current newspaper (January 23, 2020 date visible) sitting on top of the gearbox would prove you have possession of a ZF 5DS-25 gearbox and help gain the trust of our members.

I hope to see a picture soon, if not I may need to take further action.

An update. I have been trying to buy this gearbox. As said above I asked for pics of the gearbox with todays paper visible and a copy of his passport before making the transaction. I received a phonenumber but No proof or pictures to prove that the gearbox in his posession. Started to think it could possible be a scam. So I searched the web and found several ads with the same phonenumber and info om other forums. It seams that the number can be found with a lot of different email adresses and different names. Be aware, I now think this is a scam. BADA7823-D289-456C-B6C0-6855C1E8984FDA84C45E-882A-4723-B27F-CC27AFE3BF3E5DEB0EDF-1320-4935-813A-F86119A68C6BC604E1CF-92E2-42EF-81E0-0965CEE1C37C
