Do these buckets bolt right into the Pantera with no modifications, or do the studs need to be elongated?

The true GT4 units, whether Carello or Altissimo, have the same outside 'footprint' as the stock tail lights. The mounting studs are the same center-to-center distance, but the GT4 buckets (and thus the studs) are shallower in depth and need a 6mm coupler/barrel nut to then use either a 6mm stud to get the added length, or use a 6mm bolt from the engine side run into the coupler. The center-to-center holes for mounting even the stock tail lights are usually elongated on most cars due to the hand built nature of Panteras, and to allow centering of the units in the rear panel.

If you attempt to mount the Altissimo version of the GT4 lenses to either manufacturer housing, you may find the attachment bolt length short, as these lenses are about 1/4" deeper than the Carellos. The proper 4mm fillister head/phillips drive bolts are scarce as hens teeth --- just go to a good industrial fastener supplier and get some allen head, 4mm bolts --- stocks were 30mm length, you'll need 35 or 40 for the Altissimo lenses. As a bonus, the allen head bolts offer a bit of anti-theft security, too.

Larry,

Do you know where I can get the 6mm coupler/barrel nut? I have a set of what I guess are the true GT4 buckets as they are exactly what you describe, including the studs being too short. I thought they may not have been the right bucket because of this. I thought about removing the stud and replacing it with a longer one, but it didn't move easily and I didn't want to chance cracking the plastic around it. If you could help me locate some 6mm couplers, I could use the buckets I already have. Thanks.

Michael
