How do you know i you need a headlight gear ??
My car got delivered to my shipper and he said the headlights are stuck open! when the lights go on, tey are up, when you turn the headlights off they drop about 1 inch. I just realised the car had a flat battery, so perhaps the headlight motor is trying to lower the headlights and it flattened the battery trying !
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The first thing to do is disconnect the wire from the bottom of the motor, and then try to wind the lamps up and down by hand with the manual knob. If you feel resistance, then as Julian say's, you know the plastic gear has split open and is jamming it. Brass gears are available in the USA, or aluminium ones are available from Roland in Germany. I like the ally ones. If you motor is burnt out, this is the same as the window winder motor.
