I replaced my headlight switch a few years ago and it probably hasn't been turned on more than a couple dozen times.

Now it won't stay in the ON position-- it keeps snapping back to the parking lights or off position.

With it out of the car I can push the chrome bezel closer to the black body and it will stay on, but as soon as I let go a spring force from inside the switch pushes the bezel away and the switch turns off.

Any cure for this other than buying another (poorly made) switch?

Thank you,

Jim

Thanks for the idea, but that's not the problem. It's an internal problem- probably some little piece of plastic has broken and the rocker part has moved away from its proper position.

Most likely it's the plastic piece that supports the bottom of the spring. That's what happened to mine.

Can that be fixed w crazyglue, or is it under too much tension for that to work?

I took the switch apart and found that the cast metal piece had separated from the stamped sheet metal to which it is attached. I reattached it with crazy glue but the switch still won't work properly.

I'm going to do a search for Bosch switches, as I can't see installing another one of these pieces of junk
