Good Morning.
Could someone ID the Electronic Ignition box I have? I would guess it was a 89 install. There are 2 wires, a red and green from the box that were going to the coil as well as the large Blue/blk wire and a group of wires that consist of the Orange wire to the starter relay. I want to verify the connections and see if there is a problem with the box. Also any recomendations on a new coil?
I believe the Blue/blk wire is from the tach and goes to the - side of the coil along with the green from the box. The Orange wire group and the Red from the box goes to the + side of the coil.

Thanks, Steve

Thats there is a Durspark Ignition Module made by FORD. Take a look at the plastic color where the wire enter the box. The color will tell you the actual specs of the box ? Durspark 1 or 2. Some have built in balast resistors and some need them added externally .. one thing I know for sure ..you need a Durspark/ Ford Coil.

The most desirable boxes have a RED relief color.

Steve,

What you need to do is see this link.

In the future, you can gather a LOT of previously posted information by doing a search of the Forum archives; which is what I just did to find the above. Wink

Look at the top left of the home Forum page - find the "FIND" box, click, type in a few key words....and VOILA!! Info in hand without waiting for someone to respond.

I know for sure, long ago in a kinder gentler era, when there was more hair on my head and less in my ears, the issue was to use a coil designed for the higher voltages & greater spark energy of an electronic ignition, rather than using the coil designed for a breaker point ignition. The Duraspark coil was oil filled for cooling, the breaker point coil was not.

Probably any modern coil would work with a Duraspark module, but that is something I can't say for sure.

It is easy to replace the "horse shoe" shaped coil connector of the Duraspark harness with spade or ring style crimp terminals, just snip, strip & crimp.
