Just a note of introduction.
My name is Buddy Harley, I am a retired master machinist, 47 years old (and getting older).
I am looking into a Pantera in a basket/s that I have found in a barn. The owner took it apart 20 years ago and just left it. He is asking $2500 for the pile. I am still trying to determine if it's all there and in what condition. But it may not matter if the unit is not feasiable to restore or at least restify it should be worth at least that much in parts.
Anyway, just posting to this board as this is where I will be lurking for awhile and maybe helping out on some mechanical stuff.
Good to meet you'all.

Also:
Can someone measure from where the trans mounts to the block to the center line of the trans output shafts. Or will a corvette
rear and modified turbo 350 fit in this space? I ask because if the exisisting trans is junk I may have to go down a different road to get power to the wheels.

Welcome Buddy. If the Pantera you have found is not a rust bucket, you will enjoy putting it together, they are not as hard to work on as it may appear. And you can probably find any parts you need on this message board. If it is rusty, and has most of the parts, specifically the transaxle, you will make money. Let us know the verdict. Carter
Congratulations- you have a mechanical jigsaw puzzle that will give any gearhead hours if not decades of entertainment! Item: a complete used transaxle is worth about $3500 today; original magnesium Campagnolo wheels are worth maybe $500 a set of 4. The body is welded into one piece but fenders are horrendously expensive etc. Browse to www.panteraparts.com; this site is valuable because the entire car is broken down to its component parts, with prices (many used ones, too) so you'll get a feeling for whether you want to get involved, whats missing, whats significant and so forth. You also badly need all the books and manuals which are still available from all vendors including P.I, the host of this list. Another invaluable resource is to join a local club- even if only for the advice on specific problems you'll receive. Welcome to the group!
