long term storage

What problems might exist in a 72 pantera that has sat idle for 12 years in an unheated garage? It has been sitting on it's tires. Will there be tranny problems? Body and interior are good. Car has low miles. What would be a rough value for this car as it sits? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

Well that would all depend. I have seen some ZF's in great shape and ones rusted so bad you can't fix them. The problem is the oil level is only about 1 1/2 inches off the bottom and the input shaft with all the expensive parts are uncovered,The breather is were the moisture gets in to do all the damage, that why is a good idea to fire up a car thats in storage often to oil coat all the parts.I your case I would pull the fill plug on the side and look in with a light to inspect it.Lloyd
