Most of you might know Gavin whose avitar was FYRBRTHN. Gavin bought his Cat a few years back and soon got involved with the small Pantera group we have here in the Great White North.
It didn't take long to find out what a super guy he was.
He was unfortunately hit with brain cancer a few years ago.
He passed away peacefully at his home this morning.
Rest in peace, Brother.
Will

Gavin was 50 yrs young. That's his lovely wife Tamara laughing with him.
Everytime I went to see him during his fight, he would praise his wife. She was by his side every minute.
I'll be going to the wake and will post an 8x10 picture and a letter of condolences from his Pantera Brotheren.
If you're feeling up to it, a donation to the cancer society would be nice.

I never met Gavin in person but got to know him thru his posts. He was one of the people that always stood out as someone to remember (in a good way). I recall how entusiastic and excited he was about taking his car to a car show last year and gettting a people's choice award.

He will be missed here!!
I am a little shocked. The last time Gavin chimed in ... he was stoked to be representing at the CruiseNational Semi-Finals. Despite his illness, he still took to the road like the rest of us. I hope his family reads this thread. Like many of you, I never knew him; but I am very impressed that he lived it up while he still could.

We should all take note to stop and smell the fumes while we still can ...

RIP, brother
WELBOURN, Gavin Kirk BMath MBA In his 50th year, peacefully and gracefully at home, where he wanted to be, on February 1, 2009, with his beloved wife and daughter by his side. His family and friends will always remember Gavin as the "go-to guy" for everyone who needed some timely advice or some of his extensive wisdom - always delivered kindly and without judgement. Gavin was a pillar of support for his family, friends, and countless business associates. An accomplished and fair-minded business person, he will also be remembered for his volunteer work with Hope Air and Habitat for Humanity, where he sought to make a contribution to those who were not as fortunate. Incessantly curious, Gavin always wanted to know how things worked. He had a breadth of knowledge of many thingsand things he "just knew about." A lover of his family and friends, music, tequila, wine, his Pantera, flying and the cottage, he will be sorely missed at our gatherings. Constantly seeking answers about the bigger questions, Gavin has, true to style, gone on ahead to investigate the ultimate question. Gavin is survived by his wife Tamara (née Bourret) and daughter Rebecca, his parents Margaret and Keith, his sisters Rona (Keith Williams) and Leanne, Tamara's brothers Paul (Martha) and Joe (Judy) and numerous nieces and nephews. A brief but intense Celebration of his life (much like his life itself) will be held at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line, (one stoplight north of QEW), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333) on Thursday, February 5, 2009 from 3-5 p.m., with a special tribute to Gavin at 4:30. A special thank you to Dr. Costin and the health care professionals and nursing staff at Joseph Brant Hospital who gave Gavin amazing and supportive care during his stay there. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Ride to Conquer Cancer (http://to09.conquercancer.ca). Select "Donate" then search for the team name "Wheezin 4 a Reason." www.smithsfh.com
