While dealing with Marvic Wheels in Italy they asked me if I thought there was a marked for the pantera GTS magnesium 10X15 wheels. Apparently they already have all the technical specifications but need to collect a few orders in order to start production.

Marvic Wheels - products http://www.marvic.it/en/categorie-prodotti/

Judging by the Gr4 wheels they produce, the 10” GTS wheels will surely be high quality and true reproductions of the originals. They are expensive though, quoting a target price of euro 1450 plus tax each, but compared to what 40 year old original sets are selling for ($4000 plus) it’s not far off.

I sure would consider a set.

They are interested in feedback – what are YOUR thoughts? Would you consider buying a set?

Hi Kristian,
it's quite a lot of money, to be sure. And there is the eternal discussion on tyre availability in decent speed ratings. I think there is interest in them, but how much is difficult to guage. There definitely seems to be a trend back towards originality right now, but I think you need some more data for them to make a decision. If Marvic were able to lean on Pirelli or another tyre manufacturer and get sets of tyres in the correct sizes manufactured, there would be much more interest. There is also the issue of which version of the 10 inch Campy they would manufacture. Right now I have the later version with the staggered length of ribs on the front side, and they seem to be stronger than the earlier version with the even length of ribs on the front side, of which I have one of. But the later version is not correct for my Pantera. Nevertheless, for me personally, I wouldn't be in the market for a set of wheels unless one of mine was damaged or became porous etc.
Cheers, Tim.
I'd be interested in a pair of reproduction 10" Campys, but not at the proposed price. For that kind of money I could buy the real thing, or a complete set of modern sized Campy clones AND performance tires!

However, I would be interested at a price point of $2200 or less for A PAIR. Any more than that and I'll pass. And I would be ok if they had to make them out of alloy to meet that price point, despite the weight penalty.
The 15" x 10" wheels are already being reproduced as a one-piece aluminum forging, they have been for several years. The wheels are manufactured by Roin Technology of Italy, sold in the US by Mr. Fiat. Here's a link: 15 x 10 Pantera Wheels , current price is $1405.00 USD each.

I am in agreement with Tim's comments regarding the wheel manufacturers leaning on the tire manufacturers. Those wheels need a readily available matched set of high performance passenger car tires (same make & model available in both front & rear sizes, speed rated V or better) in 225/50R15 and 285/50R15 for existing GTS owners. That's an OEM application and should have priority. I'd also mention the 225/50R15 front tire was OEM on the front of the Countach.

I'd also think there would be quite a market for a second set of tires, 225/55R15 and 275/55R15 for the Pantera and Pantera L (those tires are 24.7" diameter front & 26.9" diameter rear). That front tire (225/55R15) was OEM at all 4 corners of the BMW 3 series.
The "target price" quoted by Kristian was stated in Euros, the Mr. Fiat price is in US Dollars.

At todays' exchange rate:

$1405 = €1193

€1450 = $1708

I agree $2810 US dollars per pair is a lot of money for two wheels. But the Roin Technology wheels are selling for less money than the original De Tomaso 15 x 10 wheels, when you can find them for sale. The proposed magnesium wheels by Marvic shall be at least $3400 US dollars, i.e. $600 more expensive.

Ok Mr. Fiat has them in alloy but for the magnesium price. Frowner

I suggest to get hold of Roin directly for a quote, from what I have heard Mr. Fiat has a very healthy markup and Roin will sell direct.

The 8's are fairly common and often come up for sale, it's the 10's that are rare and fetch good coin. But it's a bit of a craps shoot with 40 year old magnesium wheels.

Here's a set of 4 in another recent post;

I have just received an E mail from Andrea Roin to my request for a 10"X 15 ALLOY wheel.

delivery is 5 to 6 weeks after your order, colour is optional, there is Tax to pay, unfortunately I don't know what the amount of tax is in italy and of course also postage . but the wheels are
800 Euros each, the photo of the wheel appeared very good to. just for your info. Mark up for some parts for the well heeled???!!! poor pantera owners is sometimes a disgrace.
