Nope, the 265 refers to the width. You have 50 series, so if you want a taller tire, same width it would be like a 60 or 70 series.
BUt I have seen a pic of how high up your car sits and you could run 24 " wide slicks on that baby, no problem. Imagine two feet of rear contact patch. Eeker
I wish my car sat up that high, I would run duelies on the rear. I have mine raised up as high as I can get it and it still occasionaly will rub on bad bumps. What's your secret Bill?? How did you do it??

the stock tire was 215R70/15 = 26.85" OD

crosses are: 255R60/15, 275R55/15 and 295R50/15. You'll have the most luck finding the 255R60. Don't exceed the manufacturer's minimum rim width spec.

If memory serves me, the Euro GTs were running 285R50/15 P7s on 10" wide wheels. The ultra-wide tires found on the wide body cars were mounted on the wider group 4 type wheels.

17" - 19" wheels will alleviate all the hassle finding tires. 17" Campy clones powder coated silver look so much like the 15" Campys it can fool you.

Speaking of 15" rubber again, Does anyone know what the biggest T/A radial that will fit on an 8" Campi rim on a car with rolled fender lips and the spring spacers removed? It sounds like 295/50-15s fit on a 10" rim on the back. Has anyone used the 245/60-15 T/A on the front? Thanks all, Vince
lpb,

The next size up is 305/50/15 (27" tall, 12" wide). It's no longer made (for years), but was made in BFG Euro T/A. These tires can still be found NOS, but I haven't seen any for sale in a long time. Try the vendors.

1973UFO on the PIBB (Bob), had a pair of these tires with 1500 miles on them for sale in Dec of last year. He may still have them. Here's the link to the thread:

George,

It hasn't been that long since those tires are discontinued... has it? I thought it was more like 3-4 years. I bought the 245/50/15 BFG Euro T/A's from Tire Rack about that long ago.

Have I totally lost all conception of time? I know that the years are moving quicker, but I'm only 37! Did BFG discontinue the 305 before the 245?

I any event, the production date on the tire can be checked to verify it's age.

Michael
I'm sorry Michael, I just re-read your post. The first time I read it I thought you had written "the tires hadn't been made in 10 years".

Well I re-read it and it says "in years", without the ten.

Senior moment? Delerium? insuficient Buttery nipples?

I'll shut up & go back to my box! LOL!!!

your delerious friend on the PIBB, George
