Maybe someone has ran into this. I have a stock 72. 2 months ago I wasn't getting spark.I put in a new coil and it started right up. I then put in new wires, rotor, cap and plugs. Today I have the same scenario, no spark on the plugs but getting spark from coil. Still have points and they look fine. Could it be the resistor? What is that module looking metal box?

It's likely your voltage regulator. It should not have any effect until after the engine is running, the VR controls the output of the alternator.

If you have spark at the coil, then the problem has to be either in the wire between the coil and center of the cap, in the cap / rotor, or in your new wires.

I know it sounds wild (since you just replaced a bunch of parts), but if you are getting a spark at the coil, the remainder of the wiring is pretty straightforward...

Good luck
