I have renovated 3840 since 2013 when I bought it from "Gullwing" in New York!!!

I haven't the skills to tune an engine properly but with help from Mr Drew bought a new 600 Holley carb and never looked back, it ran much better than the old Autolite did, and I thought it was a whizz machine.
This week I invaded the pension fund and found a dyno operated by a man who specialises in American racing engines.

A good bloke who after a lot of minor improvements told me that my Holley wasn't opening the secondaries. (?)

I altered the accelerator geometry and got full carb openings when foot to the floor.

went on a road test and literally scared myself, in that the car was now so Fast.

my little road test took me to 120 mph, when I chickened out, how you lads cope with much more ?? tell me please.

I am 71 now and do believe I am past it, the switch has been pushed like tiger woods when its gone its nowhere to be seen.

I do love the car but wonder if it should go to a much younger Pilot?

Just because you got it, doesn’t mean you have to use all of it, all of the time.... (but you need to use it regularly, or it might fall off!)

Enjoy the fruits of your labor.

Take the car to the Cottswolds, Bromley Pageant, and the Nottinghams, as well as to the Goodwood Festival of Speed.... See if you can take it over to the Ace Café, in Essex, or down to Shropshire.

Show it off - enjoy being a De Tomaso ambassador!

You put a lot of great work into your car.

I have almost as much fun showing my car as driving it.

I have waited nearly 4 long years to get my Cat back, this weekend, trying to make it more enjoyable to drive more often than I was driving it previously (which was just about never!). I'm a little younger at 65, but anxious to test its new 500+hp engine and its fuel injection, along with its new Corvette seats and all leather interior. When and if I give up the dream, I might as well toss in the towel.

Aaahh you kids .. I'll be 79 in July and I like to drive comfortably .. both feet flat on the floor. Driving fast isn't the problem .. it's getting in and out of that 43 inch high machine that is a bit challenging (but well worth the effort). Drive it like you stole it my friend.

In defense of myself .. I run for 5 miles 5 times a week, swim one day a week and hit the weight room on the remaining day. You rest, you rust.
