Dave,

Yes, it is a straight shot from the sender to the gauge, but it does pass through the nylon connector that is located above the driver's right side kick panel.

Do you have continuity from the sender to the nylon connector?

The routing is from the sender at the back of the block, along the inboard side of the right valve cover to the wiring loom at the firewall (below the window). That wire loom proceeds along the top of the firewall to the right side of the car, then down past the starter solenoid and into the right side rocker panel, then up along side the fuse panel, then forward and along the cabin's front bulkhead to the steering column area, then towards the gauges, passing through the nylon connector, and from the nylon connector to the gauge.

John,
I started the car & discovered no oil pressure. I pulled the gauge panel. Ran a jumper from the sender to the gauge terminal as well as a ground. I use lamp cord with soldered insulated alligator clips.

With the jumper, the gauge works fine. I disconnected the jumper ground & the gauge still works….so ground is not the issue.

Continuity was my next step but wanted to find out how many connectors are involved so I can check each section from the sender to the gauge. Thank you, you have been a big help & saved me a lot of time. I want to track the break & then replace the wire at the same time. If I let it stay apart too long I forget how to put it back together!

Any idea where to get Pink/Black wire? I don't really want to solder in a splice to repair the damage. Maybe I will get lucky & it is in the connector. Probably not!

Thank you again John. Please let me know if you have any suggestions.

Dave,

I'm not sure where to get pink/black wire, although I seem to recall that someone posted a link to striped wire not too long ago. You could always use pink wire and put a stripe along the wire with a felt marker.

Try your jumper from the sender to the (disconnected) nylon connector, the half that goes to the gauge.

Waytek is 250 ft min.

There are two listings for each of those wire sizes. One is for 100' min, and the other is for 250' min.

WG18-12-100 (100' min)

WG16-12-100 (100' min)

If the wiring problem is not in the nylon connector by the driver's kick panel, then it is probably in the section of wire between the sender and where that wire enters the wire loom at the firewall.

plus actual UPS charge.

Thank you also for the tips.

I will post what I discover, probably over the weekend.

Dave - I found *some* locally but I don't remember how much. A shop is letting me buy off of a roll. I also have been ordereing small quantities from Wiringproducts.com.
PROBLEM SOLVED

Thank you all for your help. John, no continuity from the connector to the sender. Removed wire at sender, and the wire fell out of the crimp connector and the vinyl tubing.

So nice when things turn out simple. I probably bumped the wire & since it was loose, lost the connection. Now I will find something for a wire jacket from the oil sender to the loom.

Thank you everyone!
