Well after I did dig I found further issues or may be (hopefully) not.
Got Pantera 4907/Motor 4102 into Germany. Was previously "rebuild". After fully restored gear box (by ZF Stuttgart ...absolute top guys but expensive incl. parts fromRBT) the engine is now on the spot. Engine will see decent overhaul (see my/our other thread on the cam and piston topic). Did look at the Oiling system today and found the following (see picture). Someone did bore the #1 Main app 12mm = app 1/2 inch "bypass".
1) lifter bores do look good
2) mains are looking good (well need replacement)
3) Con rod bearings are typical for use, 3 layer, show copper on the push side, but not "dead"
all will be replaced.
So my issue is now on HOW TO DO the oiling system? I was intending to do plugs on the mains acc. previous links. Does this work now with my NEW finding?????

Matt, I would guess there is a restrictor up inside the oil passage (#1 bearing) in that picture. You have to drill the hole larger in order to install the restrictor up inside where it belongs.

My suggestion besides restrictors for all 5 cam bearings (0.062" restrictions), includes:

(1) Tappet bore bushings (also with 0.062" restrictions)
(2) Fully grooved main bearings
(3) Proper bearing clearances (Main bearings = 0.0020" - 0.0025". Rod bearings = 0.0025" - 0.0030"). Using either 10W30 or 20W50 oil with this spec.
(4) High capacity racing oil pan with baffles, hinged doors, windage tray, scraper.
(5) Standard oil pump, standard oil pump drive shaft.

..sorry I got confused as the STANDARD OIL support hole on Main #1(ref my picture) IT appeared so big compared to the others, is thought someone had DRILLED a bigger hole. Could NOW verify the hole differences per Tom Monroe's book pictures. Frowner sorry my fist Cleveland.

On the restrictors ..
1)Moroso #22050 restrictor kits (2 required, need of small only)
2)I NEED to drill the mentioned 0.062" small holes IN THE Morose RESTRICTOR correct? So the cam will see only oil via these small holes?
3) need to drill holes FOR the Restrictors (boring the oil pipe towards the cam for the restrictors) to fit in block. What SIZE to drill? (not sure if my machine shop has ever done this)
3) Restrictors will go in all 5 mains on the oiling pipe towards the cam
(#1 needs to go decently deep, as there is a kind of T-shape pipe set up in the block
(need to go beyond the horizontal tube to restrict the flow towards the cam only)
. (#2-#5 are easy as direct off the main journal seats
(there is some confusion to me, as looking to George Reid's book p 57 on the set up from Tim Meyer the text is confusing Confused as least I could not get it)

4) Tapped bore bushings, need to see if the machine shop can do this with their tools otherwise would need to order the full set but costly as need to ad 20% VAT.
Where can I get the bushings from? Wydendorf only?

Tx again I am getting there. The cylinder bores got measured today needs to be only 4.020 as walls are pretty good. Looking for Pistons.

So if the engine block doesn't have cam bearing oil passage restrictors, we'll add that to my list. The amended list is thus:

(1) restrictors for all 5 cam bearings (requires two Moroso kits, the Moroso restrictors have 0.060" orifices)
(2) Tappet bore bushings (also with 0.062" restrictions)
(3) Fully grooved main bearings
(4) Proper bearing clearances (Main bearings = 0.0020" - 0.0025". Rod bearings = 0.0025" - 0.0030"). Using either 10W30 or 20W50 oil with this spec.
(5) High capacity racing oil pan with baffles, hinged doors, windage tray, scraper.
(6) Standard oil pump, standard oil pump drive shaft.

The Moroso restrictors have 0.060" orifices, you don't need to drill them. I often quote 0.062 because that's equivalent to 1/16". Everyone has a 1/16" drill bit in their drill bit index. An orifice equivalent to 1.52mm to 1.59mm should be ok. To install the restrictors your machinist will need the appropriate American thread tap. Installation of the restrictor for the #1 cam bearing is a little tricky because it must be installed deeper within the oil passage. The oil passage must be "drilled-out" to clear the tap deep enough until you reach the part where the treads should begin. Install the restriction for the #1 cam bearing deep enough into the passage to clear the horizontal main oil passage, as indicated by the red dot in the picture at the bottom of the page.

The valve train can get by with even smaller orifices, like 0.040". However with hydraulic tappets I would suggest using the larger 0.060" orifice to insure a sufficient amount of oil is supplied to allow the tappets to function properly. The larger orifice is more "universal, it fits into more applications, it restricts the oil sufficient for all applications except perhaps 10,000 rpm drag racing. Plus the larger orifice is less likely to become plugged by debris. Finally, the original Ford tappet bore bushing kit had 0.0060 orifices ... I know because I owned one.

The Moroso restrictor kit only has 4 of the "small" cam bearing restrictors. The original thought was that the #1 cam bearing didn't require a restrictor, however over the years its been determined by grass roots folks that a tremendous amount of oil is diverted by the #1 cam bearing. So I recommend restrictors for all 5 cam bearings, unfortunately it requires 2 Moroso kits to acquire 5 restrictors, one for each cam bearing.

My father in law was a machinist, he used to make my bushings for me, any competent machinist should be able to make them. But Denny Wydendorf will sell them to you if you don't have the option of a machinist to make them for you.

impressive! This is what I call a cook book -Top.
Non of the books nor web pages are clear on the detail all not precise enough as required.
Will talk to the machine guys - well they do a lot of US Motors but Cleveland's are rare, hence I need to make sure I get what I intent to pay for.
TX again keep you posted on progress. Need to see now my body shop ..as fully rebuilding 4907...

You can also drill a .060" hole in this plug here (remove the plug first) to direct a stream of oil onto the distributor and cam gear interface.

Remove the plug first, obviously.

You may need to offset the hole slightly to aim the stream - and then ensure it is aligned when the plug is re-installed.

Then of course, there is the thrust bearing oiling mod.....
