Outside Mirror OEM or not?

There was no OEM-from-Italy rearview mirror on the Ford Panteras. They were shipped to the USA without any outside mirrors.

it became common practice for the dealerships to install the rectangular mirrors that were then current to the Mustang and other Ford cars. Those mirrors are not side specific.

some dealerships also appear to have installed the “bullet-shaped” sport mirrors also used on Ford products.

The mirror in your photograph is neither of those mirrors.

The rectangular mirrors were always chromed. The bullet style mirrors were chromed or painted.

Larry I have never seen that Bullet style mirror installed on a Pantera. I would need to check, but I believe those were a C5 part used more on 65-66 Shelby. I have seen ones as pictured above, however most of them with the C7 style one. That mirror lasted longer in production.

opiecars is correct that style of "sport" mirror was being used on the Torino, Cougar, and Mustangs especially during 71-74  Pantera time frame. It was fairly common to see them on Mustang II's 74-78 as well.  It could be original.

Nordstahl If you don't mind the look and it works I wouldn't change it since it is very much era correct.

British Panteras sometimes had bullet mirrors way out on the front fenders. Reminiscent of what was on '50s & '60s Brit sports cars. I've driven one Pantera rigged this way and those bullet mirrors are nearly useless. But then my eyes never were very good & have not improved....

I will keep this mirrors, I like this style as well. Fits to the car.
