MB,

The Vitaloni Californian does not mount on the window as you suggest, if somebody has mounted them that way, they manufactured their own mounting system.

If you're looking for a small attractive mitrror that mounts to the window check out the mirror sold by Wilkinson.

Chris (macman) recently installed mirrors similar to the Californian on his Pantera, sold by Southern Rods and Parts, they're called the Carolina mirrors. Here's the link:

And below is a pic of Chris' Pantera.

Tom,

I don't know what the hole spacing is on the Mustang style mirros. My car has the "pointed" body color mirrors that were so popular on Fords in the early '70s & installed on many Panteras as an upgrade to the chrome mirrors. The hole spacing on those mirrors is very wide. I would guess the Mustang mirrors are similar, but that is just a guess.

I have a set of GT5-S style Vitloni mirrors that I plan to install someday, the Vitaloni mounting base is not long enough to conceal both holes of the Ford mirrors. My plan is to just install a flat head screw in the exposed holes until someday when I have the car repainted.

The Southern Rods & Parts web site does not provide mounting dimensions for the Carolina mirror, like I wrote earlier, that's a dimension Chris will need to provide.

George, thanks for the information. The Carolina mirror looks very promising. I'll have to have holes filled on my doors too, but think its worth it. I'm also going to ask Dave Adler if he can ID the owners of the cars pictured in the PI magazine. Since there seems to be some interest in this subject. I'll post what I find out.
