Have just bought my second Panterra my first a GTS, was brought back from Saudi Arabia over 30 years ago and never got repaired, I believe it went to the USA.

My recent car is DeTomaso 874 * THPNMK03840 Engine number 03287. It was registered once in Italy, and I hope it will be in England before Christmas, could anyone give me a helping hand with any way to find the history of the vehicle please. My knowledge is poor bur willing to learn. Than you in anticipation. Peter.

Hi, Peter. From the serial #, your car is a late pre-L (chrome bumper model) from mid-1972 but is otherwise unknown in the Club. Since it was likely first sold in Europe/the Mid-East, the best source of info will be Santiago DeTomaso, son of the founder who still has all the records of Euro-sold Panteras. He can be reached at santiago@sdetomaso.it This is a side business for him so there will be a charge.
Incidently, nearly ALL '71-'75 Panteras sold in Europe were called 'GTS' models but many had features not seen on U.S models. Many had specific-country parts included.

Hello and many thanks for your assistance I shall send the chap an Email. Oddly enough my first Pantera was a GTS model, as per the badge on the rear panel. I in distant memory was led to believe that only 170 GTS cars were made, this seems wide of the mark. A new learning curve has begun please forgive my lack of knowledge.
Hi Peter,

Contrary to what Jack has said your car is a true Euro GTS, black euro bumperettes, mouse hair L dash and other Euro only traits give it away. I suggest to get hold of Chuck at Provamo.com and have him get you access to his website and registry. The photos he has show a Euro front plate which might offer a route to tracing some history.

I purchased my first Pantera from Gullwing Motorcars, they are a high volume low profit outfit and. I wouldn't hold out much hope that they will have much if any history.

If your previous Pantera is the one I am thinking of that was abandoned in Saudi and rescued it was a late model GT5 as opposed to GTS. The later GT5 cars were made in limited numbers.

Santiago's new venture, RSCorse has all the old De Tomaso parts and records, the website is http://www.rscorse.com/ and e-mail contact chiara.rscorse@gmail.com

Good luck,
Julian

Hello Julian, thank you for your input I have an old pic I took of the Pantera I brought back from Saudi Arabia, it was a GTS car I have a picture and would show it but don't know how to post a pic! sad as it shows quite a unique Saudi system of cooling through the bonnet!

It was grand to find out from you that the New Pantera I am buying from Gullwing is a real Euro model GTS, although it hasn't the gts badge on the boot panel? I will try and get in touch with the folk you mention. Best Peter.
