I recently purchased a 1974 Pantera from Arizona. While transferring the title I discovered that it was "junked" in Texas on 12/8/97. The only damage I found was where the right quarter behind the door had been dinged and pulled out with a slide hammer. The car has been in TX, CA, AZ and now PA. It's originally yellow and was repainted red 2 owners ago in the early 2000s. Does anyone know anything about the history of this car?

Thanks,
Chuck

Thanks! It is a really nice car with just a few bugs (front T/S, hand brake, etc.) to fix. Rebuilt engine, rebuilt and polished ZF, etc.

3/18/14 would be about the day the PO put it up for sale. I agreed to buy it a few days later. I did some google research and found that Texas had a flood in 1997. I think that's more likely than crash damage. I have an account on Chuck Melton's site but I don't have "share" access yet so I can't view info on my car.
Many insurance companies are quick to declare our cars to salvage ( to save money), due to the special repairs needed for a Pantera. Always have agreed value insurance, then if they declare the car to salvage you will get enough to replace it.
