Patera Engine Bay Heat

How hot does the engine bay area get??? I live in arizona and plan to paint the entire engine bay area with a bedlinner spray on paint that is used for truck bedlinners. The company says that the paint will withstand temps of 300 degrees.. I had my headers jet coated so this helps on the heat. Any clues.?? I wanted to go yellow color but they say with the heat and over a period of time the color will change to green, I have seen panteras painted but if you drop a tool or spill gas on the painted area it will ruin the area but with the spray on bedlinner paint it will not happen, Thanks

I used tis on my car a year ago and it still looks great.You can drop a wrench w/out having a heart attack.I used dupli-color brand and sprayed it on.The only place I have had any trouble is about 1" to 1 1/2"from my 180 headers .there are a couple of small bubbles (1/4")right under the headers.I should have used a heat shield there though.The stuff is very durable,looks great ,and is very easy to apply and clean.I drive my car alot including several multi-hour trips and so far the stuff is holding up great!even w/180 headers.I hope this helps.

One of the Nor-Cal Pantera guys just added that bedliner stuff to his engine bay, but is currently in an engine rebuild, so no info yet. The stuff is quite attractive but very rough- for traction I guess- so cleaning road-goo off it may be a problem with bedliner paints. But I doubt if the fender wells etc will approach 300 degrees, so that part should be just fine. Drive to 'Vegas at the end of the month and report on the stuff!
