Just found these on this website...gives a nice detail on the orgin of PROVA plates in Italy and offer reproduction plates for sale. http://www.provaplates.com/
I bought one, and they look great at the car show, but the problem is, you forget you have them mounted, until you are about 1 mile away from where you started.
Then you are driving around (in Phoenix, for example) with a totally illegal license plate....
This can happen to you two days in a row....
Of course you are now in traffic, and you don't want to pull over and swap out your plates...
So you keep driving, hoping that since your car is so exotic looking, any cops that might wonder about the plates will spend more time looking at the car than at the crazy license plates...
That's the story of my weekend in Phoenix and my return to Tucson (2 Hrs) with my PROVAMO plate mounted....
I know this is an old post but............ I tried the website and its now all in Japanese. I'm assuming the website license expired. Anyone have a source for these plates?
I have heard that in NC you can legally drive an older car with an custom plate, usually an expired plate of the car's original year. the current issued plate must be with the car.
any one from NC, would the PROVA MO plate be legal? If no one is sure, I might stop by licenses agent and ask.
The statute basically says the vehicle must be over 35 years old and the tag must be from the same year as the vehicles manufacture and the year must be stamped into the tag. And as you stated the valid tag must be available in the event you are pulled over.
Hello everyone sorry for the delay in my response. I am the guy who ran a handful of the aluminum Prova Plates. I still have some available for $25 shipped in the US. Please let me know if you guys want one! Thank you and thanks for the great DeTomaso website.
