Rear Ball Joint Boot | The De Tomaso Forums

How is the boot retained in the rear ball joint? It appears to be pressed with a metal ring. I have one boot destroyed and I would like to replace it. How is it disassembled?
And is the top of the ball joint cap suitable for drill & tapping for a grease zerk? It is recessed in just under a 0.5 inch dia. cavity. Thanks in advance.

The zerk fitting is threaded 1/4-28. I made 1/2" long unions and mounted the zerks on top, 'cause although you can drill & tap the balljoint, the zerk is then too low down to get a grease gun on it. There are commercial zerk extensions available. And on my rear ball joint, the boot simply slips on.
