Need help on two things please:

How far should the primary piston be relative to the lip where the dust cover is retained to know that it cannot go in any farther and provide maximum clearance to insert the brake pads?

Caliper Piston

What is the correct thickness of the rear brake pads? I bought pads a very, very long time ago, and the they seem too thick given the caliper/rotor clearance.

OK. If that's the case, the pads I have are probably too thick. They measure about 16 mm, and I think I've seen The Porterfield pads measurement come in at 14.4 mm. That total difference of 3.2 mm doesn't seem like much but may give me the clearance I need to slip the pads in place.
