I have a 1971 Pantera and require a rear deck catch, this part bolts directly to the deck lid.

That one will not bolt directly to the existing '71 mounting. You will need to install nutserts (rivnuts) to your deck lid.

Both 1490 (below) and 2152 would need to be modified.
The replacement would need to be moved to "up" (in the pic) to the next flat surface in order to line up with the latch.

Agreed. The problem with the early deck lid strike is that it approaches the latch at approximately 90°, instead of being in line with it, as is the case with the replacement. This "angle" causes the strike to flex and eventually break where it is welded to the mounting plate.
A broken strike usually can be repaired, or a new one could easily be fabricated.
