I found the best way to address the current unfolding crisis was to totally isolate in the garage. For a minimum of 14 days.

What a surprise - an Pantera requiring reassembly!

After scrabbling through the parts compost heap I came across these two parts that I am struggling to see the purpose of.

Any Ideas from the brains trust ?

  • Unknown 1: Was engaging myself in some Pantera reassembly panacea on the weekend and came across this little part. I have no idea what its for and would appreciate some enlightenment?
  • Unknown 2: Here is another Gem. I have crawled around under the dash and for the life of me don't know where it connects to?

As Adam wrote, the first one is the main part of the AC idler.  It looks like you are missing the pulley and the bearing.  The snap ring goes inside the  pulley and next to the bearing.  The pulley is a staggering $302 on Wilkinson's website.  One of my cars had the same issue with the pulley and bearing missing.  Only the bearing race remained on the shaft and the pulley was long gone.  But for $12 at Autozone an idler pulley can be purchased that gets the job done.  And it includes the bearing.  Here it is:

The second object does have a small R stamped on it which shows its handed . I had convinced myself it was part of the door opening mechanism  but I can not see any internals missing.

Thanks for the extra info on the pulley Steve. The cost is staggering for an original pulley! I went down found the center shaft, dug out a new bearing I brought and then spent the next hour and a half looking for the pulley outer again.

No pulley yet but the shop is allot tidier!! No doubt carefully put somewhere "safe".
