I think the stock rocker arm ratio is 1.73 to 1. To change the rocker arm ratio it seems to me you would need to get a rocker arm with a different fulcrum point. I would think that would require some very special parts and the expense would be difficult to justify when you can just change the camshaft to achieve the same result.
Hi guys.
Please help. I am about to fit a set of good (one-piece billet arm, needle roller etc.) roller rockers but I see that my fulcrum pedistals are the ones with the bolt-on, screw -in set-up on top and I have heard these need to be converted to accept the new roller Rockers.( Or was this only for mech. cams ??? ) I am running a mildish Hyd.cam ( Erson 228 @ .50 with 545" lift)
What do I do. Can I convert it myself. Do I need to get the Crane Conversion kit advertised to make it all work properly ?

Don't try. The stock 351C ratio is 1.73:1; big-block Chevys are 1.70:1. The highest ratio rockers around are 1.80, used for NASCAR racing and more expensive than the replacement cam you want. When you do get the new cam, be sure to include new lifters or very shortly, you'll need a second new cam.... and still will need new lifters.
