Don't know where to post this question but since it's an intake I'll post it here.

I have a magnesium intake that looked like it had 5 coats of paint on it. I started to media blast it only to dicsover it was actually either powder coated or plastic coated. the stuff is thick (I'd say maybe 0.010") and tough! Parts were peeling but I can't blast the rest away. I can an hardly even move the rest of it even with the most aggressive media. I thought since there was some experience here with Campy mag wheels, I'd ask some of my Pantera bretheren.

Can heavy powder or plastic coat be stripped from magnesium? Any stripper recommendation?

I've never tried stripping powdercoat off magnesium, but I have removed it from steel and aluminum. The only way I've been able to do it is using paint remover. Even then, all it does is soften it up, then you can scrape most of it off. Let the remainder dry out, and then you can media blast it down to bare metal. Powdercoating is tough stuff! -Steve
