In the late afternoon of Saturday June 21 the Hemmings Motor News sponsored Great Race from Ongunquit ME to Florida will be stopping in Lowell Ma.

It's a legal speed rally, not a race, but the city of Lowell will be rolling out the carpet with a large general cruise in and car show to greet the participants.

My father ran a 24' Cad in the race a number of years ago.

I would love to ride along in the event.
I think it came through Indianapolis about 7-8 years ago. It was a great sight. Most stayed overnight at one hotel. Pits were set up with lights. It was pretty cool.

It is actually quit a job. It is 2 weeks with one day of rest in the middle to work on cars or rest. Every day you leave with a navigator and you follow a route just given to you and you have to follow the speed limits everywhere. Thus the navigator works harder then the driver with a timer and a map in what ever weather comes through during the week.
