These were produced in 2012 and they were clearing their stock due to the age of the tires. This was a topic last week on the DeTomaso email list. The 2012 tires Tire Rack had are no longer available.

LARRY STOCK at Pantera parts connection apparently purchased some of these tires and they are available through him at what is still a very good price.

If interested I suggest you call him, mention the DeTomaso email list when you call him.

I picked up a truck load of these tires for Larry yesterday, the biggest portion was already sold, contact him ASAP if you want some.

These are no story tires that have been stored correctly in a climate controlled warehouse and look and feel as good as any newer production.

Perhaps those specific 2012 tires are not directly effected.

Bloomberg.com financial trade paper....

Few industrial companies will celebrate the collapse in oil prices to below $50 a barrel more than the world’s largest tire manufacturers.

For firms including Bridgestone Corp., Michelin & Cie., Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., Continental AG and Pirelli & C. SpA, lower energy prices not only mean cheaper synthetic rubber, but also higher demand as motorists drive more.

“We are at a type of sweet spot at the moment,” Continental Chief Financial Officer Wolfgang Schaefer told investors Aug.4 after announcing that second-quarter profit jumped 25 percent from a year ago.
These tires are run as specific batches every 4-5 years as Pirelli made a commitment to continue production for Countach owners. The Tirerack price of a newer production tire is $823 currently, tell me again how they have come down in price!

All I can say you guys is, I admit I run cheap tires. I don't even get a year out of rear tires, so I run the cheaper brands. The last four sets on the rear have been the same brand from the same shop and they are much cheaper now. I have paid as much as 220 a tire for mount and balance, taxes, disposal BS, etc. My last set was 194 all in.
I was paying well over 400 bucks, now I am paying well under 400 bucks.

That has been my experience and it is a recurring issue as I said, I need tires often.

If it takes 8 gallons of oil to make a tire and oil went from a 100 bucks to 50 bucks, why wouldn't it get cheaper??...
