Trade or not to Trade

Please excuse this posting for it is a very weird statment. I'm the owner of 71 pantera with some mods which I can make all original again. Anyway my goal with this car is to turn into a daily driver hot rod, lots of aftermarket mods and gt-5 body kit. Now here is my problem (sorta) The car looks to be one of the rare lime green colors from the factory; from what I hear this is a very rare color (my car of course was repaint black). There is no way I'm repainting this car back to that color.. I've spoken with several classic are buffs that want me to restore the car to its original color and like I said thats not going to happen. So at this point I can just modify the car or before I send thousands in cash changing the car to my style I can (maybe) trade it over for another pantera and let someone else make it original again. In the end I just don't want to hear at the pantera meetings "why didn't you restore the car to its original color. Since its a rare color" Panteras are awesome cars and I dont want to be respondible for butchering a rare collectors. (that is if its rare?)

I agree. It's your car, do what you want with it. I have a US GTS that was a very stock car when I bought it. It now has a variety of upgrades that suit my taste. I've owned Corvettes, Shelbys, etc.. and I find Pantera owners to be the least inclined to scrutinize theirs or other peoples cars for "originallity". If someone wants an original car, that's fine, but IMHO, it's a sports car. It wants to be driven (and hard). -Add things that help and oblige it.

I agree its your car so suit yourself, however I dunno if you have ever seen a pantera in that colour! I have a magazine with an article on buying them and the car featured is the same green colour you are probably talking about, if you like I can scan the photo and send it to you? the car looks really well

I almost bought a lime green one in Texas a couple years back, and I agree, if it is done right with a nince paint job along with nice wheels, etc., it would really look great. I thought the same thing when I bought my orange one (I have to change the color imediately!!!), but then it grew on me, and it will always remain orange.

I think it would be nice if the car was traded to someone who was interested in preserving it as an original -- if it's not too much hassle. If you can find a P-car that is closer to your desires, and find someone who is interested in restoring your car to original, then two people will be happy. But how much effort would that take...? Maybe you could give it a try. If, after a while, you haven't found anyone who wants to buy your car, and you haven't found a car that's close to what you're after, modify the one you have.
