I have the turnsignal/headlight switch in my hand. I have a couple of questions. This started when I found that in the center position, if I touched it slightly the headlight would blink on an off. For the record.
1. What are the positions of the stick? Towards you, center and away from the driver.
2. How hard is it to take it apart and clean the contacts? There looks to be some little parts that are spring loaded that would whind up everywhere.
3. Research shows that SOBill rebuilds these. I looked for him at Panteraplace.com and saw someone else. Does SOBill still repair these?
4 while dropping the steering column, 2 body shims dropped out. Where to they go?

Thanks

1. Towards you is flash headlights if you have that option (headlights need to be already raised though to be any use!), center is 'dipped beam' and away 'full beam'.
2. Not too hard if you are careful when taking it apart to see where everything goes, but more often than not the plastic parts are broken internally.
3. As far as I knwo SoBill is still repairing them, he was charging something ridiculously low like $50, by far the best way to go. He doesn't frequent this board, contact him from the e-mail list.
4. The shims/blocks sit above the steering column brackets to get the correct angle, you can play around with thicknesses to get a better angle if it suits.

Good luck,
Now I am a little more confused about the switch positions. Mine appear to be the opposite of what was described. Towrds the driver is Low beam. The center position is high beams. the pressure away from the driver opens a set of contacts inside the switch that opens the Lowbeam circuit. I do not see how it could be mounted backwards because the plastic piece that makes contact with the metal block welded to the steering column shaft for release of the turn signal would not be functional.

Am I loosing It?

The cars electrical wiring was cobbled up by prior owner. Everytime I start chasing something I find a bunch of mysterious "fixes".
It sounds like you have 3 positive engaged positions?. Mine is only 2 position with the flash being a sprung contact you have to hold to be 'on'. There are variants not all cars have a flash function, is your car an early one? With the flash the low beam is usually the center as when you have lights on low beam you can pull the level to still flash high beam. That is the only time high and low are on together.

For those that have switched to the quad headlights you can get a painless wiring conversion that on high beam will leave the lows on too for the true quad look and better lighting.
I have only 2 positive positions. Towards the drive is Low beam. The center is High beam. Away from the drive is a pressure applied position that opens a set of contacts that open the Low beam circuit. I believe this is correct operation.

Next, brake lights

I watched the video. This controler is on the wish list along with the replacement fuse panel.
