Vapor Canister Question...

No not that I know of. Unless your really good at uncrimping the canister. They have activated charcoal for the filter element. I have one off of a old Torino if you want it.

Perhaps you could bake the volatile contaminants out of the charcoal and then repaint the canister afterwards?

Perhaps the elephant in the room is the question of - Why?

Are you having emissions/registration problems?

After all these years the charcoal is usually loaded and of no benefit.

If you need a vapor trap I'd suggest just fabricating one. It's as simple as a piece of threaded pipe and two end caps with hose barbs in them and filled with activated carbon. The alternative is to purchase a small coolant bottle and fill it with activated carbon. Easy to change the carbon every couple years.

Mine is in place, but rerouted between the tank and the shield to exit at tank's bottom.

Of course, it I ever flip the car, gas will leak.

Been there, tried it, failed, won't try it again.

took my vapor canister lead from the tank top and tee'd it into the vacuum line for the PCV valve

I would recommend everyone update with a roll over valve on the tank or in line in the hose, but this means the hose probably cannot be under vacuum as it will cause the ball to shut in the valve and block the relief air supply.

Are you tee'd into a true vacuum or the air filter? Personally I would not connect the hose to vacuum, you are sucking fuel out one end and the air out the other, something's gotta give either the tank collapses (and it has happened) or fuel starvation.

You are right - I am tee'd into my air filter base not the PCV. Sorry - on Maui vacationing and my mind is a bit foggy right now
