Vertical radio..... any suggestions ??

After fitting a new high end Alpine and Boston 6 x 9's in the doors, I have realised I don't actually listen to it ! and the fact it sits vertically and 'looks' out of place kills me !!
So I think I will either find a vertical radio AM or whatever, or fit a new panel that allows me to sit the radio horizontally.
I don't want to put a 'delete plate' in there as that is not my style.
I have tried a search and there is not much around. I believe the 63 vette had one, and I think i recall an old Mercedes had one. I tried a few searches and didn't really come up with anything.
Perhaps you guys may know of anything ? or some search suggestions ?
Basically I am looking for something that fills the hole and looks like it is supposed to be there !
Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

I have a becker europa in my car, it is horizontal not vertical FWIW. Also, mine doesn't work and does not look impressive in any case. Becker does make a relatively new model the Mexico which is sweet, but it is horizontal too. It is close to $1000 I think. If you figure out a way to mount the radio that doesn't look cobbled together and doesn't involve using a delete plate over the current location please post pics because I think you and I are looking for the same solution, we just don't know what it is yet.

I pulled out the 80s style cassette and put in a period correct Becker Europa. It is horizontal and looks like the majority of Panteras I have seen with period radios.
Interestingly there is a guy in Germany that makes an Mp3 adapter for these old Beckers.
If I was in the car for long trips that would be my solution with decent speakers and amp.

For me I prefer the “Cleveland Symphony” which always makes me smile.

That's the EXACT set up I have. Vertical dial Becker - I sent mine to Becker and they integrated a vintage amp plus made it Ipod compatible.

Will be selling the Becker cassette later, probably to some Porsche fanatic whos car is THIS CLOSE to being perfect.

Shift rod doesn't change so shifting is mostly the same. It's just the knob that sits lower. Puts your hand in a better position. You have more leverage (bigger knob) so it's easier to shift. It's a lot quieter too. Doesn't rattle like my aluminum one used to. Doesn't get hot on a sunny day, which is great for the summer. Doesn't get too cold either, but here in SoCal, that isn't much of an issue.

I have a whole box of em. Only costs you $30 to find out if you like it. Smiler

I'll even wave the $6 Priority Mail shipping fee.

Never had anyone return one, or say that they didn't like it, and we sell a bunch for Miatas and Corvettes, so there's a lot of em out there.

No, we can ship the shift knobs bubble wrapped in USPS Priority Mail flat rate envelopes to Canada, and save some money on shipping. Our website isn't set up to offer different shipping rates, but our ebay store is. Buy one from our ebay store, and it'll charge you $9 or $10 (I can't remember which). Or I can invoice you the total through Paypal if you give me your e-mail address.
