The easiest way to replace the ammeter with a voltmeter is to disconnect the two ammeter leads, bolt them together VERY tightly, using a Nylox nut or Loktite, then cover the whole thing with double-wall heat shrink tubing. You could also cut the lugs off of the ammeter leads and solder them together. How ever you decide to do it, just make sure the connection is clean, tight, permanent and well insulated.

The voltmeter can then be connected to any convenient switched +12V wire.

If you don't want the voltmeter to look totally different than your OEM Veglia gauges, Don Byars sells a voltmeter that looks very similar. If you want it to look like it's OEM, North Hollywood Speedo & Clock can convert your OEM ammeter to a voltmeter. They can either leave the OEM ammeter face on it or replace it with a very OEM looking voltmeter face.

Did they use the entire veglia case or just the front bezel, glass, and trim ring? I had one done at North Holleywood speedometer. They did not use the entire case. Simply put the front parts on another brand ammeter. I was not happy and did not use it. Yours looks much better.

Yes they used the original case/glass of my Amp gauge. The internals for the gauge are all VDO. I also had him redo my temp gauge with all VDO internals and sending unit. They are both very accurate but you can’t tell they are not original.

By the way the Veglia voltage was copied from a later Maserati Bora which use the same gauges as the Pantera except the Pantera never had a voltage gauge like the Bora did.

I had North Hollywood Speedometer install VDO voltmeter workings into my OEM ammeter but they used my entire ammeter case because that's the way I told them I wanted it done. Try talking to Hartmut (the owner) and tell him you're not happy. I've found they do great work but you need to be very specific about what you want, prior to them starting work.

You can get a signal for your voltmeter from the pink wire that feeds switched +12V to the gauges. All you'll need is a short length of (preferably) pink wire with a female .250 spade terminal at one end (goes to the voltmeter) and a 'piggyback' .250 spade terminal (goes to the pink wire terminal on an adjacent gauge in your stack).

So you'll wind up with three wires attached to the back of your new voltmeter, black to ground the case, yellow/black for the gauge light, and pink for a voltage signal.
