Hi Depends on what you want. Please look at the cars available from the Pantera International site, there are several project cars available.

There is also a rust project car on Ebay at the moment that is around 20K USD. May want to consider paying more on the front end from Pantera and less in rebuild costs from an unknown source, this E-Bay car looks pricey to fix.

You can also look at E-Bay but that could be pretty problematic as the seller may not be able to deal with the export issue. Of course you could always drive it home.

So how will you deal with the left hand right hand drive issue ? Us yanks being in the northern hemisphere are compelled to drive on the correct side of the road. Car may not act correctly and will veer over the line on its own from time to time to correct for this.

I posted a list of what cars are going for at this time at

http://pantera.infopop.cc/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/2250045562/m/9930014354 It will give you some information to ponder about.

May give you some ideas. Depending on where you are visiting you can probably meet with a local club and get some ideas.
James,

Cquirk has a good point, what are the restrictions on a LHD Pantera in Australia these days? When I lived in NSW I had a Corvette and remember they all HAD to be converted to RHD, is that the case for a Pantera?

A LHD to RHD conversion is going to be quite a task, very few RHD Panteras were ever made (25 or so), so parts are rare. You will have to swap over the pedal box, brake booster and battery etc. and fabricate a 'one off' dash.

There are a couple of RHD Panteras advertised on www.carpoint.com.au at the moment for high AU$80's (~US$65K), which considering their rarity and the cost of importation, excise taxes, roadworthy certs, conversion etc. etc. probably isn't a bad price and not much more than the equivalent car here in the US. Both appear to have a lot of upgrades one being a Twin Turbo with late GT5 interior. I bet you'll easily exceed that price by buying a wreck here in the US and then sourcing all the parts, having them shipped out and doing the conversion.

You should probably touch base with Dennis (aka Downunder) who is more in touch with the Australian Pantera scene and may know of more cars for sale locally.

two answers here, Joules, cars older than 30 years may now be fully registered as LHD in Aus. Minimal changes - mainly complying seat belts and child restraint anchorages (not sure how I'll do that on a 2 seat car!) So there is a big market in LHD imported cars. But you are right about the cost of repairs - parts aren't cheap.

And George RHD cars still have the gas pedal on the right.

Don't know if James bought a car yet, but I'm pretty happy with the process having just brought in a repairable L from PIM. With the favourable exchange rate at the moment, its a good time for shopping from here.

Yes, when he stated that it was stored in a barn...he was not kidding. I think he needs to lower his expectations a little on that price.
Maybe he is hoping the weak dollar will generate some overseas interest?

I think the Garnet Red one would be a better buy than his. But I sure like that GT5-S.
