1980 would be a typo. If I remember earlier classified ads for this car, it was advertised as a 1986. That would make sense - 9440 just changed hands in Europe and is a 1986 model, and mine, 9375, was a 1985 model. So 9404 would be late '85 or '86...
He's had that car for sale for a long time...

it's 1980 in two places and as a Ebay seller i know that i would have to type in 1980 in two different fields. when Greg owned this car it was an 85/6or7 (Typo) seems like the answer but typing it in twice?
[QUOTE]Originally posted by RoBeRt: I have a original 1981 GT5 #9182. There is no way that this can be a 1980 based on the vin # given. Just my 2 cents.
My GT5S carries vin 9425 and it is an '86. There must be a combination of typo errors in the EBay listing as the GT5S model was not produced in 1980. I believe manufacture began in 1984 with 1985 being the first model year. Charlie McCall has the first produced I think.
The later cars all have dropped floor pans, improved electric wiring, rotary a/c compressors, and so, many base improvements seen as "required" on earlier cars are in place to start with. I know of a stock GT5S in beautiful condition that recently went for $55,000 in Florida. Another, a month or so earlier, with a stroker motor in Ft. Lauderdale went for $62,000. within a day or so of it's listing. So, the evidence would seem to indicate that there is an active market for the later cars.
