I have a black striped/red Pantera GTS I think from 1973. Ford UK/USA/Worldwide seem unable to say what Ford V8 it is. The engine numbers are JG6 7MT 58332K and 02AE-0A 2J13 on the cast iron block. It has the usual overhead four choke carb. Can somebody please tell me what the right transmission (cluth) should be. I have a race Renault 30 gearbox. I am grateful for any advice or sources of info. Is the compression ratio 11:1? What is the CC or BHP? Please help.

I suggest you find a more knowlegable Ford(?) dealer; engine ID is not hard. Your car was delivered with a 351C 4-V. If the block has a round oil pressure sending unit at the back of the block below the carb, it's a 351C. If not (no cast boss with a sender sticking out), its a 351W. 351C heads have 8 bolts holding the rocker covers on while 351W heads have 6 bolt rocker covers. A 351W has the water pump bolted to a large aluminum casting that mounts on the front of the block while a 351C water pump bolts to a flat steel plate.
