The blue 72 GT5 conversion now on Ebay appears to be the same car that was sold earlier this year and was previously for sale at Hall Pantera for a very long time.

Do any of the board members know this car first hand?

Have any of you seen it in person within the last year?

Any information you can share is appreciated.

Yes, it does have fiberglass flares.

ALL factory GT-5 models came with fiberglass flares from the factory...

Looks like a nicely done car. FWIW.

Thanks for the info. I didnt know the factory specs were for fiber flares on the GT5. I have seen some with steel done nice and smooth into the fender, and have heard from many that the steel is preferred, because the fiber has a tendency to loosen if bumped & also has more of a tendency to crack. However, maybe the fiber has some advantages too because it is more toward factory spec, and lighter to boot! But the car does seem nice from the photos.
From an aesthetics point of view, a properly installed GT-5 fiberglass conversion is preferred cause it matches the factory specs. It simply looks right.

I've never seen a steel conversion come close to the factory look. Either the flares are too big, or the front air dam doesn't look right, etc. Most of these are custom fabrications or Hall inventions...

Also, speaking from experience, flares that are installed correctly aren't moving anywhere..despite what some folks say

In the end, it's all a matter of taste and budget...
All going totally by memory....

As stated, GT5 flares were in fiberglass.

At least one Pantera book states that the "S" in GT5-S stands for "steel", as the flares were all done in steel as opposed to the fiberglass flares of the GT5 cars.

Factory Group 4 cars had fiberglass rivetted on, with the exception of at least one factory Group 4 car that had steel flares welded on by the factory (allegedly the first Group 4 car)

What does this mean? There are enough factory variations so that whatever makes you happy can look "factory stock".

More than I would have paid for fiber flares, but that is just my preference. However, I would have liked to have made the $10K in four months, as that seems to be what was made trading hands, as shown below. Did seem like a nicely done car though, & nice color.

A while ago, I searched long and hard for a quality GT-5 conversion. I felt
that if the Factory used fiberglass flares on their GT-5 then that's what I wanted.

I agree with the poster above, I have yet to see a steel GT-5 conversion match the factory look. Most look like a custom job since they don't exactly match what the factory offered.

I stand corrected. I guess I need to pay more attention to the GT-5 model. I was mostly going by appearance, and not considering factory look. For instance, I thought this steel flare car below looked well done in the flare department, but I guess there is more to all this than just appearance.
