Good to hear it came out ok not broken. I like your paint can opener devise for putting between the grill and metal of the car. On my red car I used a little plant hanger hook and that worked fine too (I suppose just about anything with a small hook on it would work). Also I put some strong string through some of the grill portions and pulled slightly upward on them while using the hook as well. Just got to be careful not to break the grill by pulling or prying too hard in any one spot.
